Munich has one of the densest museum quarters in Europe. What each collection actually holds, what a ticket covers, and which day of the week is cheap u2014 the Pinakotheken's Sunday price is the best-known example.

Munich has one of the densest museum quarters in Europe, and the single most useful thing to know is the Sunday price: the state collections in the Kunstareal β the Alte and Neue Pinakothek, the Pinakothek der Moderne and their neighbours β charge a nominal admission on Sundays rather than the full price.

The Deutsches Museum is a different proposition: one of the largest science and technology museums in the world, big enough that trying to see all of it in a day is a mistake rather than an ambition.
Two warnings we will keep repeating. Check the closing day β most of the big houses close one day a week and it is not the same day everywhere. And check what is actually open: Munich's museums have run long renovation programmes, and a wing being shut is not always obvious from the ticket page.
