A week lets you add a second city, and Munich sits within easy reach of Salzburg, Vienna, Prague and Nuremberg.

Days one to five

Days six and seven — a second city

Salzburg and Nuremberg work as long days; Vienna and Prague are better as overnights.

⚠️ These are published approximate times and services change with the timetable. Check with the operator when you book. Two things worth knowing on these routes: the Bayern-Ticket covers regional trains within Bavaria and reaches Salzburg, which often beats a single; and on Munich–Prague the bus is frequently faster and cheaper than the train, which is unusual in central Europe.

Or stay put

A week is also enough to stop sightseeing: the Isar in the evening, a different beer garden each day, the northern English Garden, and the Deutsches Museum at the pace it deserves. Several visitors find that the better week.
